India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.

I just tried their lunch buffet and it was fabulous! There was a great selection and they bring chicken tandoori and naan to your table. Their meats were tender and the veggies weren't overcooked. Everything had the right amount of spices and every dish seemed very fresh. It was surprisingly empty, so we chatted with the host for a while about his childhood in India. He was incredibly sweet and very gracious. We are definitely coming again. I give four stars because I haven't had other Indian food in the area. I will give another update once I do. Go here! They deserve more business!

I loved this place! Indian food is by far my favorite cuisine. I've eaten it a handful of times, and loved every minute of it. The Peacock does it right. The service was good, and the food was amazing! When we arrived on a weekday for dinner service, the resturant was mostly empty. We were greeted promplty, and seated at a table already set wtih an amazing sauce set up. The waiter brought out this yummy delicious bread stuff. I have no idea what it was called, but it was GOOD! The dipping sauces were amazing. They had a mint one, and a plum one and the waiter suggested mixing them together. Wow.. good stuff! I ordered the Empress Platter, and a friend ordered the Vegetable Platter. The chicken on the empress platter was a little dry, but everything else was perfect!! The peas were incredible, the garbanzo beans to die for! I also ate this yummy goodness, and I had no idea what it was. Imagine my surprise to hear that it was eggplant, when I hate eggplant. But, the Indians do eggplant like no other! The rice was beautifully fragrant and cooked to perfection. I swear I had dreams about this food for days afterward! I am in love with Peacock!!

Love this place!! Went for dinner tonight and the food was excellent, very attentive and friendly service, and a really nice place all around. I love Indian food and usually go on Devon Ave in the city...was pleasantly surprised to find such an authentic place in the burbs. Can't wait to try their lunch buffet next...looks great and was only around 10 bux!

I'm giving this a 2 for the attitude of the owner/server. We were overcharged for our meal - only realizing after we paid via CC. When we brought this to the servers attention, he had a casual attitude about it - and we were asked to speak to the manager to handle the mistake. He actually gave US a hard time about having the check adjusted; as if we were lying about not ordering the dish we were charged for. Food was average -- but I don't frequent Indian restaurants in this area, so it's hard for me to compare to other local establishments.
(2)Barmey U.
The service here is AWFUL! First the waiter really pressured us to order way too much food for the 2 of us, just trying to rack up the bill. Also, they weren't able to describe any of the food to us non-Indians. I used an EverSave coupon, a kind of groupon. Then when the bill came, they added at 18% gratuity, since they thought that the coupon said no gratuity included, it meant that they had the right to add an 18% gratuity! Also, they had no knowledge that they offered that coupon, so someone either on Peacock's or EverSaves end really messed up. Besides that service was incredibly slow even though there wasn't a lot of people there, and they just ignored me at first when I first brought up the complaint about the gratuity. Seriously! Really crappy service! Unfortunately I must mention, the food was good though.

I visited the place for the first time today. Arrived at noon and there was some food left. The food looked nice and fresh. When I tried it, I was pleased with the good taste. In 15 minutes, however, when I went for a second portion, there was only some paneer and desert left, all the meat dishes, rice and samosas were gone. In 45 minutes, by 1pm when I left the restaurant, the food had not been replenished. For a lunch buffet, this was a fairly pricy restaurant. The fact that the food was not replenished was disappointing.

I have a very soft spot in my heart for this place because, when I moved up to Lake county from the city ten years ago, I suddenly found myself without Indian food. After living in an area that was saturated with Indian restaurants, I suddenly found myself in the land of nothing but Wendy's and Kfc. (Thankfully that has changed quite a bit!) Desperate for an Indian fix, I scoured the phone book and discovered the Peacock. I fell in love with the place. The manager , nephew to the owner, became a friend of mine before he moved out of state to pursue his passion. I spent many an afternoon sitting with him discussing life. The head waiter had a gift for serving, and no one makes Masala Chai the way he did. And yet he was really an Engineer who moved back to India last year because he was tired of waiting tables in America when he knew he could teach college in India. The chef, Nassir, is a genius who would often make my favorite dish for the buffet if I told him a few days ahead of time that I would be in to dine. He didn't have to do that--it was a wonderful act of appreciation on his part. My lover and I were regulars here for years. I miss my friends who worked here, but I realize they had bigger plans and had to get on with their lives. Still: the place has great memories for me, and Nassir is still the chef. Try his fish curry with garlic nan. You won't be disappointed.

I love Indian food! I love coming in for the lunch buffet on the weekend or during the weekday. The food is delicious! The people working are always friendly and on top of picking up empty plates and giving drink refills. I am definitely a fan and will return! I always come here when I crave tasty Indian food!
(4)Brian W.
How do you have slow service when there are only two tables occupied in the whole place? I went here for dinner, and the place was almost empty. Still, it took awhile to get anything. The food is good. I went for one of the platters and enjoyed everything I had. My wife ordered some vegetarian thing and seemed to like it. It kind of seems like dinner just isn't something you do at an Indian restaurant.
(3)Brad S.
there is great Indian food in the area "aroma" across the street so pass this place up and go somewhere better. I have only been twice but the lack of quality was apparent so was the bad service and empty tables.
(2)Joann K.
I'm not a huge Indian cuisine fan, but the lunch buffet was pretty good. The buffet is kind of pricey ($10). I'm full off of one full plate. The service was very slow considering there were only 4 other tables. Whenever we needed something we just grabbed it from an empty table next to us. It also took them a long time to clear our plates and to refill our waters.
(3)Sarah A.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable dinner here a few weeks back. In fact its probably the best Indian we've found out here in the NW 'burbs. We started with the appetizer sampler: samosa (yum), pakora (meh, not the best), sheekh kabob (good) and the chicken tikka (excellent). The plain naan and roti were just as we liked them. For entrees we treated ourselves to the chicken masala and chicken makhani and we very happy with both. The service was excellent. Can't wait to go back!
(4)Jennifer O.
Not many options for Indian food around Lake Forest/Vernon Hills areas. It's ok for your Indian food fix. The only thing they do consistently right here though is the lunch buffet. Dinner is touch and go due to the inconsistent service. Some servers are great and some are slow, ignore you, or try to scam your bill. The food is above average to average. I like the wide vegetarian selections. Just watch your service if you come here at night.
(3)Urszula S.
Great lunch buffet - available all week long. Good variety, owner goes the extra mile. Would recommend and visit again.
(5)Jennifer K.
The food was good, but the best was the waitress who is just so wonderfully nice. The decor is your traditional suburban indian restaurant. Overall, I'd go back for the food, and the really nice customer service.
(4)Joan S.
I really love this place for lunch. It's one of the few places in the area that combines a fine dining experience (white tablecloths and lovely ambiance) with a fast, reasonable lunch buffet. Like others who have reviewed, I avoided the place because it seemed too upscale and sit-down, but it's turnkey for lunch. The food may be Americanized (can't speak to that) but I thought it was excellent. I've been there several times and they change the buffet selection - one time, there was curried goat and another a really excellent fish. The tikki masala and tandoori seem to always be available. My absolute favorite is the "butter chicken" - beyond anything I've ever had. Delicious! My only advice is to watch your shirt. Lots of sauces, lots of opportunity to wear your lunch back at the office.
(5)Kelly D.
I LOVE the buffet for lunch. I think it is only buffet for lunch. There is so much to choose from and it is all superbly flavored. The owner is very accommodating. I order my favorite dessert off the menu at lunch and they make it for me. They bring Naan to the table fresh from the kitchen when you sit down. The decor leaves a little to be desired, but it is comfortable enough, and the food is the draw anyway... Located in a little outdoor mall it is very unassuming and you wouldn't normaly find it unless you were in the mall. But I recommend seeking it out. Very yummy!
(5)ben y.
Great food. I love bindi masala and this is one of the best versions I have had. The chicken tikka was wonderful, tender, not dry at all. I am looking forward to trying the buffet..it looks huge! Great service, delicious food..whats not to like?
(5)Catherine S.
Great lunch buffet, slightly pricey. Nice selection of vegetarian choices. Our department's hit Peacock a few times for lunch over the past few months, and we've had nothing but good experiences. The food is always great. There are six to eight dishes to choose from on the buffet, in addition to a lettuce salad, rice, dal, and endless baskets of fluffy naan. There are always at least two vegetarian choices - like a chickpea curry and a paneer - and (on the other end of the spectrum) there's usually a chicken dish and a goat curry. Try both sauces with the samosas, they're very yummy. Leave room for rice pudding and mango sherbet. It's the perfect way to cool your palete after all that spicy food. We started eating here once a week, but it's a little pricey. The buffet *was* $9.95, but I think it may have gone up. Our check came to $14 a head with tip this last visit. That's a little much for a regular lunch in my world. Maybe once a month.
(4)Joshua P.
Quality Indian Food The service was fantastic. The owner made good dish recommendations when we asked about entrees. The portions were full sized. And best of all was the delicious tasting food. The chicken tikka masala was some of the best I ever had. The goat was good, but was missing something to make it memorable. If I was an area local, this would be one of my regular indian joints.
(4)Jake D.
Freshly prepared and tasty. Veggie options are more refined, overall classic spread. Lunch buffet is well worth it! My naan was a little undercooked but I like it that way...
(4)Jen G.
I called and made a reservation for 3, but there was no table ready when we got there, and we were asked to wait for at least 15 minutes. First Indian food experience. Went there for their lunch buffet. Food was good but it was cold. They ran out of naan and never brought any more out during the whole time we were there. Their sauce dishes were empty when I got there and were also never refilled. They seem to be short staffed. I was upset when the owner did not want to take my debit card and said he preferred cash. We paid $33 for 3 people for lunch, it seemed a bit pricey. I bet there is better indian places than this out there.

My favorite restaurant!I love their food!
(5)Liz S.
I never thought I'd find such a good Indian restaurant that wasn't located on Devon. But, one actually exists. This place is really a hidden gem. I've lived around this area for awhile and didn't know it existed and I'm sad that I didn't know. I went with my dad and stepmother the other day and we got a a few different items and all of the items were amazing. Not a single item was bad. The only bad thing I can say is that it took away to get the check, but that was only b/c there was one waiter and he helping a different table, which unfortunately had a crazy drunk lady, and it took a bit to get them started. But if you're every in the area try this place, you wont be disappointed.
(4)Renato P.
I cannot yet call myself the Tandoori Kid yet, but I have made it a point to try several of the area Indian restaurants in the last several months. Of these restaurants, I've had some of the better Tandoori chicken and Chicken Tikka I've had so far. I wasn't super impressed with the vegetable side that came with my platter but it was in no way bad, simply not awesome like the meats that came with my dish. I was saying "oh my god is this good" to myself after every bite of the ground lamb kabob, and it was by far the best I've ever had. The samosas were average, good, but average. I will make it a point to come here again, it was a little pricey, but by no means prohibitively expensive.
(4)M J.
As a whole this is a very nice restaurant with good food, clean facilities, and a very convenient location. It is great that the owner of the restaurant is right there and personally waits on customers. Anytime there is a problem the owner deals with it right away which makes this place quite nice. While the Indian food here is pretty average the service makes up for that as there is never an issue with getting something done here. The carry out service here is great, and things are always ready ahead of time. When one places an order it is always done properly and accurately. If there is ever an issue with the carryout, then the owner always makes things right. The prices here are competitive, and the prices are more or less the same as other Indian restaurants in the area. The lunch buffet is a really good deal as there is quite a bit of selection, and even if one comes a bit later around 2:00PM the owner will make up a quick plate of whatever dish is running low if there is enough folks around. The price of the buffet is fair considering all that is offered. I would recommend this restaurant as the food is good, the prices are right, and the service is better than most Indian restaurants in the area.
(4)Deanna S.
I'm broken hearted. This place changed owners and it just isn't the same. At least their buffet isn't. The few times I've been there since it's changed the buffet has been luke warm at best. I just want my food to be hot, especially when I don't know how long it's been sitting out. The selection is good, and the food itself isn't bad...but it just isn't the same. I also miss the exuberance of BK, the old owner. This is ultimately the best one in the small area I have to choose from for lunch, but I'm not really rushing to go back.
(3)Jennifer F.
More mixed results on further visits. On my last visit, the owner took my check. I needed change. When I counted my change, I realized that he had already taken a gratuity out!
(2)Jay K.
We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the food was yummy. My wife lost an earring and we called and they had not seen it. They went even further to check with the cleaning crew and actually called us back when they found the earring. we will be back. The food and the people there were wonderful. The hours shown on the listing are missing the evening hours.
(5)T P.
The food is great, a little pricey but tasty enough that it's worth it. My issue is that they don't have their hours listed on their website, or on their phone message, or on their carryout menu. I wanted to get some dinner, and called at 4:50 pm on a Wednesday evening and no one answered the phone, and there was no way for me to find out if they were going to be open, or closed for the night. So I went to another restaurant.
(3)Steve O.
The best buffet in Lake County. All the classic Indian foods at their best! Good food, good service, good value, they will come !
(4)Counce S.
I was always scared of Indian food until I came to the Peacock. I had no clue what to even order so the lunch buffet was perfect to try all kinds of great food. I will go back any day of the week.
(5)Justin G.
I had the lunch buffet. The food is good, but a little more than I like to pay for a lunch buffet ($9.95). I was also surprised how few people there were at 1:30 when I went here. My only real somewhat-issue is that they were playing what sounded like an Indian B96 the whole time. Not that I think anything is wrong with Indians having dance music, but it's just weird at a nice restaurant. You don't go to a nice American restaurant and listen to Bobby D or Bad Boy Bill. But it did give me an opportunity to realize how other cultures must view us. In some of the songs they'd have a one liner in English with an accent and 'pukey" voice trying to sound like those guys I just mentioned.
(4)Mike L.
A very nice place offering fairly authentic Indian food. I really like the naan and the 3 sauces that come with it and they kept filling it up. The tandoori chicken was colorful and flavorful with enough portions for leftovers. The decor fit the image as well as the music so you at least had the illusion of being in India. Also unlike many other ethnic restaurants where the majority of the staff is Hispanic, the serving staff is Indian (I cant comment on the kitchen staff as I never saw them).
(4)Pang P.
The food was okay, but it was the service that made me take the vote down to two. The waiter (who I'm pretty sure was the owner) literally tried to hustle us by trying to get the more expensive garlic naan and "on accident" gave us and charged us for the more expensive white rice with peas. No thanks, just head to India House on Buffalo Grove road. The food is comparable, but the servers are way nicer and actually helpful.
(2)Kat A.
Y u m m y and so patient with me who knows so nothing about anything indian . . . yummmy i say again . . . and craving indian food . . . . need it now
(4)Anthony P.
Came for the weekend lunch buffet with wife and child. The food was good with a lot of variety. Will definitely go again and the waitress was kind enough to not charge my son as he basically just nibbled on a bit of bread.
(4)Maria W.
Had the lunch buffet today and it was good. Not bad and pretty much in line with Saffron which is nearby. The price was $9.95 which seems steep for Devon and a week day - but this is the north burbs I guess. Neither Peacock or Saffron give the tandori chicken to your table in a sizzling plate, but the nan was yummier at Peacock. I heard it was under new management and everything did taste pretty fresh.
(3)A V.
I used to visit this place at least twice a month from 2006 through 2008. This place is far better than India House restaurant in buffalo grove in terms of taste, variety and price. However, it is not "The place" for Indian food. There are far better places than this one. I just love one dish here. Try the goat biryani and fish curry. For people from India or those who know authentic Indian food, it is really difficult to give 5 stars to this place. Having said that, this place is worth a visit especially there is no better Indian restaurants in this neighborhood.
(3)Mark B.
I have been going here for several years, the food (both buffet and dinner) is consistently good. The manager and staff make us feel like family, whether it's just my girlfriend and I coming in, or a whole group of friends. I have never left Peacock hungry, or unsatisfied, this is my favorite Indian food restaurant, and I will keep going back.
(4)Barry G.
My woman and I came in around 3pm to find an almost empty restaurant. Buffet table was cleared, and just one pair of Indian guys were sitting at another table talking. Honestly, I was expecting to order off of the menu, assuming that we had missed the lunch buffet. Shortly after we sat down, the manager came to us from the back and told us that he would set up a "lavish buffet" for us on our table. That sounded good, so no objections here. A couple of minutes later (with the sound of a microwave in the background), delicious food began appearing, served with both rice and naan on the side. Plates of cauliflower and vegs, eggplant, dahl makhani, lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, paneer mutter. Very nicely spiced, easy to eat too much. And we did. Even with our gluttonous overeating, there was food left on the table. No dessert or soup was offered or presented, and I'm OK with that. I'm sure some would have been brought out if I had requested it, but there was simply too much food for one sitting. With a sweet lassi and a mango lassi, the lavish tabletop buffet, total was $37. Certainly not cheap, but the food was yummy, quick, plentiful, and service was very homey. If I'm in the area and craving Indian, I've got a go-to place now.
(4)Junaid A.
Went here for an early lunch. They open at 11:30, so we were one of the first in the restaurant. The food was excellent, fresh, and well prepared. The flavors were all there. Would much rather pay the $10.95 for this buffet than the $6 for the average buffet down the street. The naan were fresh, and the curry dishes excellent. Would highly recommend it to all.
(4)Captain G.
I don't get this restaurant at all. I've been here 3 times (not going back again), and I've never experienced such blatantly poor service. The thing is, the manager and staff are super friendly (when they actually attend to you), but for whatever reason, don't seem to want people's business! I can now understand why the place is consistently empty (even on Saturday evenings). The first time I went in, I stood around for 15 minutes, waiting to be seated. Waited another 15 minutes before someone took my order. 30 minutes later, the food arrived. The food was quite delicious. Only got one water refill though, after I asked twice. But, after I finished, it took around 10 minutes to get my check. I was the only patron there... I got over it, and decided to try a Sunday lunch buffet. The place was still pretty empty, but the food was decent. This time, I was the one serving myself (and I did a fantastic job of that), so my only real complaint was that by the time the naan (part of the buffet) came out... maybe 20-30 minutes later, I had already eaten my second plateful. Come on! The third and last time I came here, the place was empty. Yet I walked in and stood there without even being acknowledged by the manager or the server. No greeting and no getting seated = bye bye. Walked out, don't care to return (even if the food is good!). Aroma, a similar Indian restaurant is just down the road, and they'll actually try to sell you food!
(2)Katie R.
This is my new favorite place. I recommend the tandoori chicken and lamb shish kabob. The establishment is clean and inviting. The service is efficient and friendly. But most importantly the food is tasty AND healthy. If you want to explore new flavors try this place. If you're not sure what to order, the lunch buffet will let you try many options to find what you like. Enjoy!
(4)Ken E.
I ordered the lamb platter and asked for spicy; it was a good flavor but not really hot, more like a slow burn. I will have to ask for extra spicy next time. The meal was great, I will return. The place was empty on a Thursday evening. One other customer came in after us. The menu looked a little pricey but they have good service. And the portions were very generous, I ended up taking home a doggy bag.
(4)Nithin T.
My girlfriend and I decided to try this place before reading the reviews. The owner was really nice and the food was delicious. The chicken tikka and the Chana masala was very good. Good food portions for the price.
(5)Bryan C.
the restaurant is open and has never been closed. incorrect information is listed in yelp! the same owners and the same great quality, certainly a must visit.
(5)Jacob J.
When it comes to Indian, there are only a few options in this area. Saffron which most everyone raves about. Spicy bites which is mainly South Indian fare and located further West on 60. Then there is Peacock. Out of the three, it's the most average in my opinion. I stopped by for their buffet one day. A little pricey with not very many options. They don't do the typical Indian buffet dishes, with more on the Vegetarian side. Even the most American of dishes, which is "butter chicken" was not offered, instead a paneer variety was. Food was filling and service was okay. I lucked out and got a strange server, he was visibly nicer to those customers which were "American", I can only assume this because this dumbass may have been under the impression that they tip better. Indians tend to be snottier with tipping if service isn't outstanding. But then.. who knows, that just my two cents. Just in case, I over tipped. Peacock has many tables and could accommodate 75+ for one seating, though on this weekday there were only 2 other tables full of customers. Their food was bland to me and explains why more Americans find the taste palatable. Of my Indian co-workers many go to Saffron or Spicy Bites instead.
(3)Liz S.
Service great. Food very authentic. Really enjoyed and highly recommend!
(4)E S.
Their tikka masala was the best! Everything else was just ok, I would def come back here. I didn't like it that a bunch of people were standing in the beginning of the line just talking away, but oh well, just the day I guess. The mini samosas were tasty and not over the top.
(4)Nick L.
Indian Buffet - sure! They have a nice selection of curries for both the meat and veggie lover here. They have a pleasant taste that isn't so overpowering that eating anything else is meaningless. The service here is slightly slow but when they do serve, it is excellent. Price is reasonable and the mango ice cream (when they have it) is amazing. The decor and ambiance is understated, a good place to have lunch with your fellow co-workers.
(4)Megan M.
I came in for carryout. The place was empty- I was assisted immediately and they had Lamb Korma! Ordered to go, no rice or naan. Food was prepared within 12 minutes, piping hot even after the drive home. The food was remarkably fresh and flavorful. Intensely robust in spices and texture-and color. I was impressed by the authenticity. Highly recommend. Lamb korma and chicken makhani made my night!
(5)Arun T.
great place, awesome food..awesome service.. twice in 2 weeks and plan to be there more often..highly recommend to everyone..
(5)Sadie T.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON HOURS: THIS PLACE CLOSES DAILY BETWEEN 2PM and 5PM! A note would have saved us significant grief had we known. This seems to be an IL thing, all the other Indian restaurants within 20 miles did the same (except for one that wreaked of cigarettes that we left). After waiting around an hour for this place to open at 5, we were pretty hungry. I appreciate that they have a variety of vegetarian options, more than other places I have been and some interesting options as well. My companion and I both ordered vegetarian entrees and we were pleased but not blown away. The cauliflower potato dish my companion ordered was dry and in need of a sauce, or more delicate cooking time. The prices are pretty mid-range, tables are clean, though they did vacuum at 5:15 near the buffet line (another reviewer also noted this). Overall the food and atmosphere was okay, with no major complaints (other than the long wait time but that's yelp's fault).
(3)Dan P.
We really enjoyed our take away meal of vegetable curry, mixed meats platter, rice, samosas, and naan. Everything was moist and spiced very well. Staying at a nearby hotel, but will return here for next visit. Good job Peacock
(4)Arun J.
Pathetic flavorless food! Pathetic customer service! Terribly overpriced! Avoid this place at any cost.
(1)Sibu K.
Unless you want to overspend and under-eat, do not buy from this restaurant! Absolutely unbelievable. Incredibly expensive for terribly small portions of food. Regardless of what the food tastes like, you can not expect to serve this amount of food for the price you're selling it at. We ordered takeout from here to feed 3 adults, and thought that 3 entrees with 4 naan and a side of rice would be enough for us. Ordering this amount of food from any other Indian restaurant would be enough for at least 2 meals if 3 people are eating. However, we opened up our package once we got home, and it seems like half of what we ordered was not packed. Seriously, the portions we received are not even enough to feed one person. We got the lamb kebab, chicken tikka masala, and aloo gobi masala. Each dish came in a cup-size container, including the rice! Overall, we spent SIXTY dollars on this food and are ending up with twenty dollars worth of actual food. We also called back and told the owner (politely) that we were terribly unsatisfied. All we got was a bunch of excuses and the same kind of nonsense bulls*** that they filled half our package with. So they added terrible customer service to the list too. Don't eat at this restaurant and make the same mistake we did.

Some people travel all the way to the city for good Indian food. Well travel more! This food is authentic and excellent. The tandori chicken is always a favorite but try the chana masala and the Nan is amazing...the chutney is also very good, the red being my favorite. You know you are in a good authentic place, when you are the only one NOT Indian!!
(4)Shawn M.
The tastiest Indian food that I've encountered along with great customer service! The best kept culinary secret in Lake County.
(5)Raj V.
Love the food. Do the buffet. Plenty of variety for veg and non veg. Food is as good as mom used to make it. Don't let the lack of a crowd fool you. Give it a shot.

I was in the area for work with a coworker, and stumbled upon this restaurant for lunch. We both love Indian food so thought, hey why not. Besides we didn't want to spend more precious lunch time driving around looking for a decent food joint (after being misled by Google map to a restaurant that is no longer in operations). As I walked in, I noticed the visibly placed Yelp decals stickers on the glass door. That should've been my sign to retreat. Though the food was decent with typical Indian curry dishes, chicken kebab and a side or two sweets, the service on the other hand needs major improvement. How can you offer buffet but leave food trays empty during lunch hour rush without replenishing them? Even after I asked nicely for some rice, nothing was brought out. The restaurant was about 20% filled, so even more mind boggling why the service was so slow.

Went for dinner on a Fruday night. There were maybe 4 other tables with people. There are two men waiters. We had the younger one. He got our order wrong. Although they came and gave us water regularly we waited like 45 minutes for our food and another 20 minutes for our check. I must say that the food was delicious though.
(3)Joe T.
I agree the food tasted good.. But you cannot fool a person and bring something else just because that's the only thing made in the kitchen that everyone loves. Ordered Chicken Tikka and got Butter Chicken.

I am giving this place 2 stars based on my recent visit to their lunch buffet. 1. The buffet was pretty much empty, not much food left at all. 2. I had to request that they replenish depleted items off the buffet and that took quite a while, mind you... The intent of a buffet is immediate gratification. Weekly lunch time is less than a hour and I really would like to be able to get in and out with no problems for lunch. 3. The server said, sorry, "we are busy so no time", lol, there was only one other table besides me. 4. I actually paid these folks for burnt chana masala that had been sitting there for hours, "creamed lentils" which were truly floating in water as well as other items which were simply not available. This place was a huge hit back in the day while in the river tree complex. Has truly gone down hill. The waiters wear filthy clothes which are at the end of their useful life, place is stinky and needs cleaning for sure. I'm mad that I left with a hungry tummy but paid them for a empty buffet. Again, burnt chana masala, non existant mixed veggies, lentils were in water sauce. I really will not be back to this place, they are not nice either. Not sure how they are staying open, only one other table was occupied in the entire place when I was there. How is the service so slow and the buffet is empty if you have plenty of folks working and no customers? I'm indian myself and really want to give this place a nice review but I honestly cannot: they were not friendly, wore nasty old and stained clothes, nothing on the buffet was fresh. Ugh. If you know anything about indian food this place will make you go running away and maybe sick too. I feel bad for this place because I truly think diversity is a good thing. Problem is, they are serving up a bunch of zero.

Out of the three Indian places that I've tried within the past week, the Peacock is at the top of my list for Indian restaurants. Not only was the selection of choices at the buffet good, the taste of the various items was pleasant and most of it reminded me of the food I had while living in India for three years. The gravies were not watery, had a nice aroma, and were just right to mop up with the fresh naan. The atmosphere of the Peacock is also very nice... it gives a hint of India and the traditional hindi music is a nice touch as well. Looking forward to trying out the menu selection and brining my family and friends here.

Ordered lamb curry (or something similar) for takeout and ended up paying $18 for a cup-size meal with absolutely NO sides at all.
(1)Ari E.
First time here and the food was fantastic! I ordered the tikka masala and it was delicious. Don't forget to order plenty of naan for dipping! Service was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely will return.

Great lunch buffet - available all week long. Good variety, owner goes the extra mile. Would recommend and visit again.
(5)Joann K.

(3)Barmey U.

(4)Jay K.

(2)Jennifer K.

(2)Junaid A.
(4)Katie R.
Enjoy!

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place before reading the reviews. The owner was really nice and the food was delicious. The chicken tikka and the Chana masala was very good. Good food portions for the price.

the restaurant is open and has never been closed. incorrect information is listed in yelp! the same owners and the same great quality, certainly a must visit.

(4)Boz B.
(4)Corin W.

I always come here when I crave tasty Indian food!

there is great Indian food in the area "aroma" across the street so pass this place up and go somewhere better. I have only been twice but the lack of quality was apparent so was the bad service and empty tables.

My absolute favorite is the "butter chicken" - beyond anything I've ever had. Delicious! My only advice is to watch your shirt. Lots of sauces, lots of opportunity to wear your lunch back at the office.

My favorite restaurant!I love their food!
(5)Jen G.
(2)Mark B.
(4)Monikey M.
Ordered lamb curry (or something similar) for takeout and ended up paying $18 for a cup-size meal with absolutely NO sides at all.
(1)Arun T.
great place, awesome food..awesome service.. twice in 2 weeks and plan to be there more often..highly recommend to everyone..

(3)Megan M.
(5)Dan P.
(1)Ryan R.
(5)Nick L.
(4)Janice M.
(2)Hanah S.
(4)Joe T.
I agree the food tasted good.. But you cannot fool a person and bring something else just because that's the only thing made in the kitchen that everyone loves. Ordered Chicken Tikka and got Butter Chicken.
(2)Carol H.

(2)Captain G.
(2)Junaid A.
(4)Katie R.
Enjoy!
(4)Randy I.

Service great. Food very authentic. Really enjoyed and highly recommend!

Their tikka masala was the best! Everything else was just ok, I would def come back here. I didn't like it that a bunch of people were standing in the beginning of the line just talking away, but oh well, just the day I guess. The mini samosas were tasty and not over the top.

Very yummy!

Great food. I love bindi masala and this is one of the best versions I have had. The chicken tikka was wonderful, tender, not dry at all. I am looking forward to trying the buffet..it looks huge! Great service, delicious food..whats not to like?

I visited the place for the first time today. Arrived at noon and there was some food left. The food looked nice and fresh. When I tried it, I was pleased with the good taste. In 15 minutes, however, when I went for a second portion, there was only some paneer and desert left, all the meat dishes, rice and samosas were gone. In 45 minutes, by 1pm when I left the restaurant, the food had not been replenished. For a lunch buffet, this was a fairly pricy restaurant. The fact that the food was not replenished was disappointing.

Freshly prepared and tasty. Veggie options are more refined, overall classic spread. Lunch buffet is well worth it! My naan was a little undercooked but I like it that way...

First time here and the food was fantastic! I ordered the tikka masala and it was delicious. Don't forget to order plenty of naan for dipping! Service was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely will return.

It kind of seems like dinner just isn't something you do at an Indian restaurant.

there is great Indian food in the area "aroma" across the street so pass this place up and go somewhere better. I have only been twice but the lack of quality was apparent so was the bad service and empty tables.
